Shlap Muan – Cambodian Comfort with a Personal Touch Getting Out of Your Comfort Zone

My visit to Shlap Muan was more than I expected. As I approached from outside, it seemed ordinary — but what was inside was anything but. Being my first visit, I was guided through the menu by Hawk, the owner. He takes your name at the register, and later, he follows-up with you by name to be sure your visit is going well.

Hawk seemed to handle a lot on his own — from working the register to getting the orders ready. The service was fast and pleasant, and it gave me a feeling of cleanliness. As I was waiting, the locals seemed pleased too, with one lady saying to Hawk, “This is my second time this week.”

The food was pleasant as well. I had the Fried Rice Bowl. For me, that was enough for a while.

I know it’s hard for many people to try new places, especially one that seems like an ordinary local establishment. But this one was worth the trip. I’ll be planning another motorcycle trip this way.
